 Zune team released today the spring update which has all the rights to call itself Zune v2.5 . The highlights of the new version is the Video Content in Zune Marketplace (TV shows), new Social Features, better video experience with better browsing and audio with gapless playback. And the bad news for those not in North America is.... bye bye Zune Marketplace, no longer allowed to even sign in! Read more details about the new release... |

 Microsoft XNA group general manager, Chris Satchell, talks about the game development platform of Windows, Xbox360 and Zune. He says the beta will be released this May, available to Creators Club Members only and the full product at the end of 2008 as expected. In his interview on Eurogamer concentrates on the users and developers experience but also talks about handling security issues by making XNA games run in a sandbox instead of normal native code... |

 ZuneJourney is the promotional site Zune team launched a couple of weeks before the official release of the 2007 Zune players, Zune 4 & 8 and Zune 80. Its an interactive site with animations guiding the user through the new Zune main features in an interesting way. Webby Awards placed it as a nominee in the Websites category for the award of "Best use of animation or motion graphics". I think you know who to vote by the 1st of May! ... |

Coming not from Microsoft but directly from the Zune community, DarkZune.com, makes it more interesting to check out it's features: zAlternator, zThemer, zExplorer, zIconer.  Francois Ruault of Microsoft France, revealed to the French newspaper Les Echos the big secret: Zune 3 will be released in Europe too. It will be ready in fall 2009, using the same name (of course). The Marketplace will be supported on PC but we may also see it running on Zune and on Windows Mobile 7. I remind you by holidays 2008 we'll also have games on our Zunes, making the whole thing pretty interesting... |

 The most important is Zune games will be supported on all Zunes available as of today: Zune 4/8, Zune 30 and Zune 80. XNA development platform will support 2D graphics and multiplayer gaming among 2 or more ad-hoc players (in the same location, not via internet).  XNA Game Studio platform will be supported on Zune with 1000 games available by the end of the year. Additionally online multiplayer games will be supported on Zune. According to ZunInsider, Microsoft won't change the orientation of Zune project to games (yet?) and is not announcing consumer availability for games, just the support of the platform on Zune... |

 Microsoft descreased the Estimated Retail Price for Zune 8 players from $199.99 to 179.99 while leaving Zune 4 at the same $149.99 as before making it a good idea to buy the bigger model for only $30 more. Could it also mean we are close to a Zune 16 release like the yellow specil edition he'd seen a few weeks ago? ... |
